Hey - I was forced to ski when you weren't even born ;-)!
Swiss, remember? As soon as any of us can stand on it's feet, it is pushed down a hill... And that is before you are able to articulate loudly, clearly and insistently that you are NOT cut out to be outside at -15°C, and HATE snow, and HURT all over from the cold. And when you are finally able to do that, you are in school, and not allowed to. And get pushed down more hills.
Not to mention forced to ride those lifts for longer than it takes you to ski down the hill, and forbidden to let the nice tourists treat you to some tea "Rum" in the restaurant... (Which is of course the only sensible thing to do on a ski-slope!)

Yes voluntarily! I had a great time, even if it was too warm (50°F/10°C). Skiing is much better when it is below freezing. Even thou it wasn't cold, the restorative beverages were still consumed. They are part of the whole skiing experience. Hot Toddy, Irish Coffee, Hot Buttered Rum, yep definitely part of the experience.

Glad you had fun!

I know - everybody is just crazy about it. My half-brother is in Laax, Mr.C. took a day off to test his new carvers in Davos, and friend P. leaves for Wengen tomorrow, (He can do the Lauberhorn, I swear...) while friend M. spends two weeks in Flums... Not even for an Irish coffee would I consider even driving there :-). Sounds like you at least haven't hurt yourself. Good :-P.

There there now, I didn't mean to bring up such painful memories! It's going down to -13°C here this week, and I've been skiing in -22°C in New Hampshire, so I can sympathize. Especially with the need for a mild restorative beverage... ;-)

Thanks, kitty - no harm done, don't you worry :-)! I have grown out of that trauma eventually, but still hate the cold with a passion. And I still have to wear at least one layer of stuff more than everybody else, whatever the temperature...
